Claire Marie (Macdonald) Grace
Funeral service for the late Claire Marie (MacDonald) Grace, 87, Antigonish/Ottawa, was held December 17 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Grace died December 10, 2018, in Elizabeth Bruyere Hospital, Ottawa. Readers at the funeral Mass were Mairi Pinsonneault (Richard Pinsonneault), Jean Ann O’Brien and Paul Johnston. Denise Horne and Dawn MacMillan presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Margaret MacGregor-MacDonald. Pallbearers were Allan Campbell, Don MacDonald, Alden O’Brien, Paul Johnston, Ray MacDonald, and Stephen MacMillan. Born August 2, 1931, in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Murdoch and Mary Belle (Cameron) MacDonald. She was raised in Beaver Meadow and had many fond memories of her time growing up on the farm. She enjoyed skating and, through this, she met her husband, John. She worked at the Angus L. Macdonald Library at St.F.X. for more than 38 years. She enjoyed downhill skiing at the Keppoch and the family’s many ski trips. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a proud spectator at their activities. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley (Richard) Pinsonneault; grandson, Riley; granddaughter, Mairi, all of Ottawa; brother, Donald (Elaine), Ontario; brother-in-law, John D. MacDonald, Antigonish; three brothers-in-law, Jerome (late Marg) Grace, Roddie (late Shirley) Grace, John Finnegan; six sisters-in-law, Bertha (George) McCabe, Theresa (late JB) MacDonald, Margaret (Pius) MacNeil, Kay Grace (Frank Cash), Phil (Greg) Campbell, Cecilia Grace; numerous nieces and nephews; special cousin, Mary Sills. She was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Mary Catherine, in infancy; two brothers, Rod (late Myrt), John (late Mary); two sisters, Catherine (late Edward) Farrell, Isabel MacDonald; two brothers-in-law, Donald Grace (late Mary Kay), Bernard Grace; sister-in-law, Marie Finnegan.
