Born November 17, 1990, in Sydney, he was the son of Tina Hemmings and Cordell Poirier. Christopher resided with and was raised by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Teresita Hemmings at 270 East Broadway, Whitney Pier. In 2011, Christopher graduated with an honors degree from Sydney Academy. He had a passion for food and music. Sitting on the patio watching the birds eat brought Christopher much enjoyment, as well as riding the big blue bus to the Horizon Achievement Center, where many lasting friendships were formed with residents and staff at MacAulay’s Lane. Christopher is survived by his parents, Tina Hemmings (Blair Phillips) and Cordell Poirier; sister, Cori Marie Hemmings; brothers, Scott Hemmings and Alex Stulnov; maternal grandparents, Edward and Teresita Hemmings; paternal grandmother, Alice Poirier; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his respite caregivers, Linda and Philip Wareham. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Paul Poirier. Born with cerebral palsy and many other disabilities, Christopher lead a productive life despite these challenges. A sincere thank you to his family doctor, Dr. Yavarie, as well as Dr. Andrew Lynk, Dr. Philip Curry, Dr. Fashir, Dr. Szabo, and all the homecare workers, with special mention to Bernadette Burke, Maggie MacVicar and Linda Campbell, the handi-trans drivers and all the doctors and nurses who cared for Christopher over the years.
