Christina MacDonald

Funeral service for the late Christina MacDonald, Linwood, was held September 6 in St. Paul’s Church, Havre Boucher, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating, assisted by Father Darek Misiolek. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. MacDonald died August 31, 2018. Readers at the funeral Mass were Dan Fougere and Danielle Pellerine. Monica White and Jeannie Bouchie presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic ministers were Cyril Campbell and Leona Brow. Music was provided by St. Paul’s Choir. Pallbearers were Bert Fougere, Ronnie Bennett, Shawn McKeough, Bobby Fiander, Roy Lawlor, Leo Morrison and Kevin McKeough. Born in Linwood in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Elsie (Kinney) McKeough. After finishing high school at St. Joseph’s Convent in Mabou, she attended Normal College in Truro. She taught in several one-room schools and worked at the Royal Bank in Guysborough. In 1953 she married Robert ‘Bob’ MacDonald and began a life of devotion to her family and community. She was a volunteer for Martha Home Health Care, St. Paul’s Ladies Aid and CWL, the first president of the Havre Boucher chapter of the Girl Guides, secretary of the Havre Boucher Senior’s club, and belonged to the Children of Mary. Nothing made Mom happier than the company of family, neighbours, and friends in her home where home cooking and “a good cup of tea” were guaranteed. She was a lifelong supporter of the PC Party, an avid reader and a quilter. She had a passion for all things Irish. She is survived by four daughters Maureen, Halifax; Mary, Linwood; Margaret, Stellarton; Bonnie, Dartmouth; granddaughter, Christina (Julien), Ottawa; daughter-in-law, Ruth, Truro. She was predeceased by her husband Bob; son, Blaise; grandson, Nathan; son-in-law, Ron; two brothers, Emmitt and Kenneth.
