Catherine ‘Kaye’ Maceachen
Funeral service for the late Catherine ‘Kaye’ MacEachen, 92, Port Hood, was held January 9 in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood. Mrs. MacEachen died January 6, 2019, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born March 6, 1926, in Mabou, she was the daughter of the late Alex ‘The Painter’ Cameron – (Alasdair a’ Pheantair ‘ic Aonghais ‘ic Alasdair ‘ic Aonghais Dhuinn) and Mary Anne (MacDonald) (Màiri Anna ni’n Iain Shandaidh Mhóir). A woman of deep faith, she was a member of St Peter’s CWL, Port Hood. Along with her husband, she was steadfast in her hard work on their farm in Hawthorne, where they nurtured their family and cared for their neighbours. They shared a love of Scotch music, square dancing and visiting. She is survived by seven children, Anne Marie (Bob) Sime, Hughena (Tom) Mac Millan, Ronnie (Bernadette), Annette (Harvey) Beaton, Lorraine, Angela (Dougie) Beaton, and Frances; 16 grandchildren; great-grandchild, Hannah Marie; three brothers, Duncan, Dougald (Florence) Roy, Alexander (Judy); many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Phillip; sister, Mary; three brothers, Angus, John, Colin; brother-in-law, Hughie Bernard; six sisters-in-law, Louise, Theresa, Marcella, Irene, Kaye, Chris; son-in-law, Rick Minnikin. Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.
