Bradley Anthony Rahey — NORTH SYDNEY

RAHEY, Bradley Anthony Georges RiverIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bradley Anthony Rahey, age 58, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, on Tuesday June 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney on December 27, 1960, he was the son of the late Raymond and Vivian (Nader) Rahey. Brad became an entrepreneur at an early age. He opened his first business at the age of 18, Brad’s Radio Shack, which later developed into many avenues consisting of satellite, electronics and home security. After many successful years of operating his business, he was lucky enough to find his true passion of scuba diving, which he later turned in to his next and most beloved business venture - The Dive Corner; where he was able to teach and share his love of the ocean through the sport of scuba diving. He was a member of the Georges River Fire Department, where he also enjoyed playing Santa for the kids at Christmas time. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5109, North Sydney and the Baddeck Barnacle Dive Club. For many years he was involved in fund raising for the Atlantic Burn Camp. Brad was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joanne (Hawkins) Rahey; his children, Chloe (Andrew Miller), Lindsey (Patrick Henick) and Cole;, his sister, Beverly (Bruce) Haggett; sisters-in-law, Mary (Wayne) Pero, Susan Young; brothers-In-law, Lloyd Stewart, Joe (Barb) Hawkins, Jakie (Karen) Hawkins, Ricky (Marilyn) Hawkins, Kenny (Allan) Hawkins, and John Hawkins; his aunts, Ann Nader and Jamal Rahey; his nieces and nephews, Josh Rahey, Steven Stewart, Raylene Stewart, Gabe Haggett, April, Wayne and Chris Pero, Richard, Ryan and Randy Hawkins, Kent and Ashley Hawkins, Fiona and Valerie Hawkins, Shane and Joey Young, Devon and Derick Hawkins, as well as several grand nieces and nephews and many cousins. Also surviving are his special friends, Mike Moores, Jordan MacDonald and Blaine Heffernan. Besides his parents Brad was predeceased by his brother, Richard; sisters, Judy Stewart and Debbie in infancy; mother and father-in-law, Joan and Jody Hawkins; sister-in-law, Valerie Hawkins, and brothers-in-law, Frankie Hawkins and Raymond Young; uncles, Gussie Nader, James R. Rahey, Carl Rahey, Arthur Rahey, Nicholas Rahey; aunts, Eva Shwery, Marie Kasouf, Isabel Kattas. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Palliative Care, VON, Dr. Williams, Dr. Kirkpatrick and the staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. Visitation for Brad will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Albert Maroun officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care, Cape Breton Cancer Centre, Atlantic Burn Camp or a charity of choice.
