Funeral service for the late Blair Osborne George, 59, Half Way Cove, Guysborough County, was held February 2 in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove, with Reverend Susan Slater officiating. Burial was in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Halfway Cove. Mr. George died January 26, 2019, at home. Born July 17, 1959, in Antigonish, he was a son of Joan (Snyder) George and the late Joseph George. He worked with the Department of Transportation for 30 years and, upon retirement, established a successful quarry business in Halfway Cove and fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a fisherman for a few years. He was an avid hunter who travelled throughout Canada to hunt various game, which he displayed in a camp on his property. He was a devoted member of the community, having served as a municipal councillor for the Municipality of the District of Guysborough for more than 30 years. He always helped anyone in the community who was in need. Besides his mother, he is survived by his partner, Judy Marsh; two sons, Jason (Adrienne), Jeffrey (Adrienne); six grandchildren, Jocelyn, Addison, Cameron, Landon, Charlie, Meara; five brothers, Brian (Diane), Joseph (Darlene), Stanley (Angie), Donald (Toby), Derrick (Claudia); four sisters, Donna (Norbert), Joan (Brian), Molly (Roger), Nancy (Wade); many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene (O’Leary) George; brother, Bobby George. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove, or a charity of choice.
