Barbara Foote — Halifax

Barbara Joanne Foote - age 50, of Oakfield, NS formerly of Stellarton, NS, passed away on December 7, 2018 in the QE II Health Sciences Centre V.G. Site with her family by her side. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of Henrietta (Munro) Hood, Riverton and the late James Paul Hood. Barb had a passion for reading, an interest she passed to her son and love of her life Jacob. She also had a passion for all things politics. She was a devout monarchist and member of the Monarchist League of Canada. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to visit more than 30 countries with her family, visiting all her bucket lists. Barbara has been a resident of Oakfield after returning from Naples, Italy in 2016. Testament to her service to others, she served as Personal Support Programs Coordinator in Naples, Italy for 2 years, enhancing the morale, esprit de corps and well-being of the Canadian military personnel assigned there. Enhancing her love of politics, she also held a key position of finance, hospitality and travel coordinator and acting social secretary for the Office of the Ambassador at the Embassy of Canada in Washington, DC during a three year posting with her family to the United States. Barb was a lifelong employee and manager at The Body Shop for 25 years, her impact was immense and unforgettable. Barb had also volunteered with Phoenix youth programs in Halifax and as a parent volunteer in her son's school. Family was a keystone of her life, she lived to praise her son and niece and nephews. She deeply loved her parents and brother and was a devoted and loving wife of almost 25 years to her husband Jamie. She is survived by her husband Jamie and heir son Jacob Liam Foote, Oakfield; her mother Henrietta Hood, Riverton; brother David Hood (Kelly), Stellarton; mother-in-law Doreen Foote, New Glasgow; brother-in-law Michael David Foote, New Glasgow; niece Allison Hood, nephews Brennan and Euan Hood, Jeremy Halliday; uncle Albert Munro (Evie), and cousin Wendy, Westville; Aunt Betty Young (Robert), Hopewell; cousins Allen, Kevin, Halifax and Andrew Fraser, Fredericton; and two special companions Flashy and Flora. She was predeceased by her father James Paul Hood, and father-in-law James Burton Foote. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December11, 2018 from First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
