Avite Saulnier — Yarmouth

SAULNIER, Avite Joseph – Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co. It is with sadness that the family of Avite Saulnier announces that he passed away in Yarmouth on Friday, March 30, 2018, days after his 83rd birthday. Avite is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Surette), sons, Stephen (Julie), Norman (Nance), David (Sophie) and George (Polly), grandsons, Eric (Alex), Louis, Dain, Brandt, David, and Paul, and brother, Daniel (Viola). He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Regina (Muise). Born in Pinkneys Point on March 20, 1935, he farmed and fished with his family until he attended St Anne’s College. He worked in Halifax and Montreal with BH Paints, CIL and Stanchem until retiring and returning with Phyllis to Pinkneys Point. Avite was a devoted and loving husband, a caring father and a role model for his children. He was an avid woodworker, a genealogist, a storyteller, and author. He loved a good joke. Visitation was held at Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Yarmouth from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 6 with a funeral mass at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Melbourne at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, Father Pat O’Meara officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Avite’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
