Angelina ‘Julie’ D’Intino

The family of Angelina D’Intino (known to her family as Julie) is saddened to announce her death on June 1, 2018 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney. Born in Whitney Pier in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe (Joseph) and Christina (Varrasso) D’Intino and the last surviving member of her immediate family. A kind and gentle person, Julie’s life was marked by love of family, pride in her Italian heritage and a deep and abiding faith in God. She devoted her life to the service of others, having cared for her ailing mother for many years and later, for her father. She also provided clerical support in her brother’s medical practice. A loyal and trusted friend to many, she considered herself blessed to have made so many enduring and life-giving friendships during her years at Harbourstone. Julie was an attentive aunt and great-aunt who, through her daily devotion and prayer, ensured that her nieces and nephew and their children, all knew of her undying support for them to achieve their full potential in life. She was a treasure trove of genealogical information and stories regarding her family and the broader Italian community in the Pier. Her memory was remarkable and Julie retained this information in incredible detail until the end of her life. Julie is survived by her nieces and nephew, Yolanda, Anne-Frances (DA Landry) and Carmen Joseph (Nancy Lynch) D’Intino, and their children, Anna Maria (Cohen MacDonald), Michaela and Carmen Angelo D’Intino; PJ, Nicholas and Carmen Francesca Landry. She was predeceased by siblings, Rev. Fr. Emidio, Dominic, Mary, Lena, Eustace, Dr. Carmen (Frances) and Angelina (in infancy). Visitation for the late Angelina D’Intino will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 40 Cabot St. in Sydney on Tuesday, June 5 at 11 a.m., Fr. Bill Burke officiating. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to Dr. Paul Murphy for his exceptional and compassionate care. We are also forever grateful to the staff of St. Ann’s Bay (Harbourstone) who always cared for Julie with great kindness. You enriched her life. Special thanks to her friends the Abbass sisters, Carrie, Marlene and Sr. Lorraine; and Mary MacKinnon whose regular visits brought great joy.
