Remembering in Queens County

Service held Nov. 11 in Liverpool

LIVERPOOL, NS - Liverpool’s Remembrance Day ceremony was held under a blue sky as a cool, crisp wind blew.

The service began with a parade from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 38 to the Astor Theatre, where the ceremony took place.

Inside the theatre, people stood for the playing of O’ Canada, which was followed by the Last Post and a moment of silence.

Hon. Col. John Leefe read the role of honour for the First World War and Andrew Maule read the role of honour for the Second World War and Korean War.

The ceremony’s speaker was Lou Landry.

After a closing prayer, the annual Remembrance Day service was finished, and people gathered outside at the cenotaph to lay wreaths and poppies. Then, the parade once again marched to the beat of the drum as it headed away from the Astor along Main Street.
