RCMP investigates stabbing in Pictou Landing

The Southeast District RCMP is investigating following an off-road vehicle crash in Memramcook that left one man dead and another injured.

PICTOU LANDING, N.S. — Pictou Landing – A 24-year-old Pictou Landing First Nation man has been hospitalized with stab wounds.

At about 9:50 p.m. Thursday night, Aug. 22, Pictou County RCMP responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed following an altercation with another man at a residence on Pictou Landing First Nation. The suspect had fled the scene.

A short time later, officers located the suspect, a 20-year-old man from Pictou Landing First Nation, at a nearby store. He was arrested without incident and remains in custody.

The victim was transported to hospital by EHS with serious injuries.

Police believe this is not a random act as both parties are known to each other.

The matter remains under investigation by Pictou County RCMP.
