BARRINGTON, N.S. – There were lots of laughs and good-spirited competition at the Great Lobsterman Challenge at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena on June 8.
More than 600 people turned out at the Shelburne County Lobster Festival event to watch and cheer for their favorite fisherman in the timed competition as they coiled rope, baited lobster traps with marshmallow filled bait bags, spliced rope, banded lobsters and got their gear on. Corey Crowell repeated as champion, with Tyler Snow placing second and Jeremy Goreham, third.
Another activity during the festival also include lobster shelling at the Barrington Area Lions Hall on June 9. Adam Wolkins, a chef at Capt. Kat’s Lobster Shack in Barrington Passage, shelled three lobsters in two minutes, five seconds.
