TIVERTON, N.S. — As part of work to replace the Tiverton tower on Long Island, starting this week, contractor crews on behalf of Nova Scotia Power will be stringing the power lines that connect Tiverton to the mainland. As the sole source of power for Long Island and Brier Island, the new power lines will increase service reliability and reduce the risk of outages for more than 600 customers on the two islands.
To safely complete this work, marine traffic through Petit Passage may be temporarily stopped at times during the month of July. Marker boats will be stationed at either side of the work site to communicate with any oncoming vessels, and to ensure any essential passage is conducted safely.
