KENTVILLE, N.S. — Choosing a game on family game night can be hard if everyone likes something different.

From July 12-14, it’s anyone’s pick if you go to Kentville’s first KingCon.

Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Kentville Fire Hall, the Kings Tabletop and Boardgames Society (KTABS) will have it all, from chess, to role-playing games, and even miniatures games. A games library will be setup full of games to borrow for the day, and the weekend will be full of scheduled events.

Kim O’Connor, president of KTABS, says the event will be a great opportunity to promote tabletop and board games people may have never tried before. She also mentions that the event is a great way to meet people with similar interests. There will be game teachers on site, so no experience is required.

KTABS holds quarterly and monthly gaming events, but with this being the first “con.” If all goes well, they hope to make KingCon an annual event.

On Saturday morning, there will be a Bring-and-Buy sale, where people can donate their old games and buy some new ones. As well, several games were donated to the event and they will be raffled off.

The all-weekend event is open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $10 per day, or $30 for the whole weekend. In addition to every adult ticket purchased, two children’s tickets can be bought for $5 each.
