BERWICK, N.S. —

A Berwick man is warning others to lock their things up well after the theft of two motorcycles from his garage.

Brad Morse awoke the morning of Aug. 29 to find two motorcycles missing from his garage, as well as a jacket and a helmet.

Morse said those bikes include a blue 2017 Yamaha xt250 (Nova Scotia marker: 197298, VIN: JYADG24NXHA001740)  and a red 1983 Honda xL185s (Nova Scotia marker: 190156, VIN: JH2MD0208DK40351).

“My guess is that it must have been at least two people,” Morse said. “They took two bikes.”

This was not a crime committed in a far corner of the area, either. Morse lives on Main Street.

“I live right in town, on the main street as it leaves town,” Morse said. “I guess I left the door open by mistake. And I guess you can’t do that these days.”

He is not optimistic about retrieving the items, noting that “the longer it takes, the less likely you are to recover them.”

Morse contacted the authorities that morning – as soon as he discovered the bikes and items were missing.

Considering his plight, he advises everyone to keep everything of value “locked up and under cover.”

“If someone happens to see the bikes, an anonymous tip would be greatly appreciated,” he added.

Const. Jeff Wilson with the Kings District RCMP said the bikes were stolen sometime between 10 p.m. Aug. 29 and 6 a.m. Aug. 30.

The matter is still under investigation.
