BRIDGETOWN, N.S. - Mum’s the word on a major project in Annapolis County, but The Spectator has learned that it will mean potentially 100 well-paying jobs, will involve 600 new residents to the county, and inject millions of dollars into the local economy.
It’s not a major manufacturing plant, not a call centre, not a big box store, and not a convention centre -- although after the initial start it will continue to inject millions into the local economy annually for decades to come.
Residents won’t have to wait too long for the details. A public meeting is set for Dec. 8 at the Bridgetown Regional Community School at 1 p.m.
A spokesperson for Annapolis County said the project will likely also necessitate new business startups, cause existing businesses to flourish, and home sales and rentals to increase.
On its website the county describes a ‘major concept and development’ but gave no details. The spokesperson said the impact of the development will affect all aspects of the Annapolis County community, and could be a boon to local farm operations, local markets, but at the same time have a major social and diversity benefit.
Amazingly, the project will also increase the tax base, boost tourism, and increase Annapolis County’s and Nova Scotia’s international profile.
