SHELBURNE and DIGBY, N.S. – The Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) is advising the public of emergency department closures at Shelburne Roseway Hospital and Digby General Hospital. The closures are all due to lack of physician availability.

A closure at the Shelburne hospital will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, and will last until Sunday, Feb. 17 at 8 a.m.

The emergency department at Digby General Hospital will be close at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 and will reopen Monday, Feb. 18 at 8 a.m. It will then close again at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8 a.m.

The health authority says anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911, particularly if experiencing unusual symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, abdominal pain, persistent headache or dizziness, or an injury requiring stitches or involving a broken bone.

For non-urgent care, call your family doctor or primary care provider. For general health advice and information call 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
