A 51-year-old Centreville man was airlifted to hospital in Halifax with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash Monday in White Rock, Kings County.

New Minas RCMP were called to the crash at Benjamin Bridge Winery on White Rock Road just after 2 p.m.

“A heavy piece of equipment carrying large rocks lost control and went into a wooded area on the property,” Mounties said in a news release.

A second man who was in the vehicle but jumped out was taken to Valley Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Greenwich firefighters were called to free the driver from the truck. The Lifeflight helicopter landed in a nearby field to pick up the injured man.

The Department of Labour has been called to investigate the crash.
