GARLANDS CROSSING, N.S. — GARLANDS CROSSING, N.S. – Police say a woman was in her home while her two children were sleeping upstairs when a man broke into her house and, after demanding to speak to someone else who lived there, threatened her with a knife.
According to a press release from the RCMP, the incident occurred on the 5,000 block of Highway 14 on Feb. 13, just after 10 p.m.
The release says the woman heard a noise in the kitchen and when she went to see who it was, she found a man standing in her kitchen, wearing black clothing from head to toe, with dark sunglasses and a ski mask covering his face.
The man demanded several times to know where another resident of the home was, and when the woman repeatedly told him that person wasn't home, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and held it towards her.
The RCMP say the woman then pulled out her phone from her pocket and the man ran from the home, leaving the same way he came in.
Police were called to the scene and they examined the footprints in the snow and determined the suspect left the area on foot, headed towards Highway 14, then got into a vehicle.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-6 with a slim build. He was wearing black shoes and a black hoody and spoke with a raspy voice, according to the press release.
Police do not believe this was a random act.
