WINDSOR, N.S. — An Upper Falmouth woman has been ordered by the court to repay Scotiabank almost $100,000 after pleading guilty to stealing money over a 10-year period.
Angela Boyd, 56, pleaded guilty on May 28 to stealing $96,440 from the Hantsport Bank of Nova Scotia branch between Jan. 1, 2008, and Oct. 17, 2018. The matter was adjourned to July 23 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Claudine MacDonald ordered Boyd to serve a period of imprisonment in the community, handing her a 12-month conditional sentence order. Boyd will serve house arrest for the first four months, followed by daily curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the next four months.
The court granted a standalone restitution order for $96,440 to the benefit of the Hantsport branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia, which has now amalgamated with the Windsor branch.
Charges of breaching trust in connection with her duties as an official officer within the Bank of Nova Scotia by stealing money and altering an ATM balance voucher with intent to defraud the Bank of Nova Scotia were withdrawn on July 23.
