ST. CROIX, N.S. — A man is confirmed dead following a collision on Highway 101 near St. Croix.
Windsor RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on July 10, just before 2:30 p.m. According to a press release, a car had stopped in the right lane of the divided portion of the highway, in the eastbound direction, when it was struck from behind by a commercial truck.
The driver of the car, an 83-year-old man from Margaretville, died at the scene.
The passenger of the car, a 78-year-old woman from Margaretville, was transported to hospital via LifeFlight with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 101 was closed until approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 11 as an RCMP Collision Analyst examined the scene. Traffic was detoured through exit 4 near St. Croix, while emergency personnel were on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
