CANAAN - Two men are in hospital following a collision on Highway 101.

An SUV and sedan connected in the eastbound lane near the Exit 12 on-ramp at 10:09 a.m. Dec. 21, an RCMP press release states.

“A brown SUV ended up on its roof in the middle of the highway, while a silver sedan came to rest in a ditch,” said Cpl. Jennifer Clarke in a prepared statement.

“The driver of the SUV, a man in his forties, sustained serious injuries while the driver of the sedan, a man in his twenties, sustained undetermined injuries.”

The highway was temporarily closed between exits 11 and 12 to allow for emergency response efforts and cleanup.

EHS paramedics, local fire departments, the provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and RCMP collaborated at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, Clarke said.
