ELLERSHOUSE, N.S. — An Ellershouse resident was taken to hospital following a home invasion that occurred shortly before midnight on July 30.
The RCMP say a man and a woman were asleep in bed when they were woken up by a man standing in the doorway of the bedroom, holding a firearm.
According to a prepared RCMP statement, the victim struggled with the suspect, and as a result, required hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was not injured. Police do not believe this was a random act.
The suspect is described as a man, about five-foot-five tall, wearing jeans, a dark hoodie, and a light coloured bandana over his face. The police also said he has a low voice.
Hants District RCMP responded to the 911 call and an RCMP dog and handler assisted with locating the suspect. The dog tracked the suspect to the nearby intersection of Williams Road and Ellershouse Road, leading police to believe the suspect was picked up in a vehicle.
Hants District RCMP is continuing its investigation and is asking anyone with information to call them at 902-798-2207. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.
