BRIDGETOWN – An RCMP investigation is ongoing after a break in was reported early Sept. 29 at a business in Bridgetown.

Annapolis District RCMP received a complaint at 9:30 a.m. reporting a break and enter at a business on Queen Street. According to a release, RCMP investigated and determined the alleged break in occurred overnight.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said the business owners told police the building was secure when they closed it Sept. 28 and that it appeared to have been broken into when they arrived to open the business the morning of Sept. 29.

“They found that somebody had broken in and caused a significant amount of damage,” he said.

Hutchinson also revealed RCMP currently suspect multiple persons were involved in the alleged break in, due to the extent of damage caused. RCMP also say a fire extinguisher was used inside the business.

“Given the amount of damage that was caused, it most likely involved more than one person. That is something the investigation will reveal. With a lot of cases like this, it’s typically more than one person involved,” he said.

RCMP Forensic Identification Section is now providing assistance as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding the alleged incident is asked to contact Bridgetown RCMP at 902-665-4481.
