KENTVILLE, NS – Two men have been arrested in connection to an assault and robbery police say was targeted that occurred Jan. 4 in Kentville.

Suspects Bryce Douglas Brooks, 23, of Bishopville and Stephen Ryan McKay, 22, of Greenwood, have both been arrested.

A third suspect, Franklin Dale McKay, 28, also of Greenwood, has not yet been located.

The two men arrested are due in Kentville Provincial Court Jan. 11 to face the charges of Robbery, Wearing a disguise, Break & Enter, threats, theft and aggravated assault.

Police Inspector Darryl Brown said police were notified about the alleged assault when neighbours took the victim, in his twenties, to the hospital.

The young man was allegedly assaulted and bound with tape after three men – two of whom wore masks – broke into his house on Academy Street in Kentville around 5 a.m. and stole items before fleeing the scene.

Brown said he believes the incident was targeted since Franklin Dale McKay is known to the victim.

“We believe McKay arrived at the scene together with the other two men. They were there for a reason,” said Brown.

“It certainly, from what I see as a police officer, appeared to be a planned thing.”

The victim was treated and released from hospital Jan. 4.

Anyone with information on Franklin Dale McKay’s whereabouts or on the incident is asked to call Kentville Police Service at 1-902-678-3378 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477.

This incident remains under active investigation.
