BRIDGETOWN, N.S. - Impaired drivers, unfed cats, and vandalism were the calls of the week for police Nov. 26 to Dec. 2.
And there was the bogus bill, the tailgating Honda, the car without headlights, and the stolen wood stove.
The Annapolis District RCMP would also like to remind the public with upcoming Christmas festivities to please be safe and don’t drive impaired.
Nov. 27, 2018
BRIDGETOWN – A $50 counterfeit bill was received at the Bridgetown Credit Union. RCMP are reminding business owners to closely check large bills to ensure they are genuine. If in doubt, call Annapolis District RCMP.
MEADOWVALE – A caller reported being tailgated by a white Honda before the Honda sped off at excessive speed. RCMP tracked down the owner of the vehicle who justified his actions because he was late for work. The RCMP officer advised the charge of speeding and following too closely and suggested he did not want these hefty tickets before Christmas. RCMP are also reminding the public due to winter weather and road conditions, to please drive with due care and attention.
BRIDGETOWN - RCMP received a call of a vehicle on the road without headlights on. The officer located the vehicle - lights were indeed off but someone was definitely ‘home’ behind the wheel! The driver advised he thought the lights came on automatically. The officer took the time to show the night rider how to turn them on.

CORNWALLIS PARK - Another occurrence of vandalism was reported. Overnight a large pole and sign had been taken out of the ground. RCMP are requesting anyone with any information on this recent act of vandalism to contact the Annapolis District RCMP.
PARADISE – A car vs deer on Highway 101 was reported. The vehicle had moderate damage and had to be towed. Unfortunately, the deer died at the scene. The driver was uninjured but certainly a little shaken up.

BRIDGETOWN – Police received reports of a possible impaired driver. The RCMP officer located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. There was no sign of impairment and the driver admitted he was not paying attention. A warning was issued and the officer suggested a little less contemplation and a tad more concentration.

MIDDLETON – RCMP are reminding the public that unless you are a big red fire truck, you cannot park within five metres of a fire hydrant. One gentlemen in Middleton found this out the hard way when issued a ticket for $61.60 under sec 143(1)(G) of the Motor Vehicle Act.
MIDDLETON – A caller reported a possible impaired driver. The complainant said the vehicle was all over the road, going from side to side and hitting the curb. RCMP located the driver and vehicle on Victoria Street. The driver was uncooperative and combative resulting in the deployment of the Taser. Multiple charges are pending.
CLEMENTSVALE – RCMP went to a cabin that had been burglarized and where a wood stove had been taken. RCMP are requesting anyone with any information to contact the Annapolis District RCMP.

MIDDLETON – A landlord/ tenant issue warranted an RCMP response. The landlord literally did not want to see his tenant anymore - so he boarded up his tenant’s windows. The RCMP advised the landlord this was against fire code and suggested he go through the appropriate procedures to evict.
MEADOWVALE – A caller reported her daughter was away and someone needed to feed her cats. The officer explained this was not exactly a police priority at which point the caller became somewhat upset. The officer explained had this been a case of “cat burglars,” they would be there with bells on. Fortunately, the caller found a friend to feed the cats so the night ended purrrrfectly!
Dec. 2, 2018
MIDDLETON – A caller reported an impaired driver who was presently in his driveway “ramming” into his car. RCMP located the man playing bumper cars. The subject was arrested for impaired driving and will be appearing in court in January.
DELAPS COVE – Several trailers at the campground were damaged. RCMP officers attended and noted thousands of dollars of damage to multiple trailers. The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP is requesting any information be reported to Annapolis District RCMP.
