KENTVILLE, N.S. — A Meadowvale, Annapolis County, man will serve a period of imprisonment in the community for using a forged cheque as if it were genuine.
In February, Tony Allen Davidson, 31, changed his plea to guilty to a charge of using a forged cheque from Platinum Liquidations as if it were genuine. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
On May 14, Judge Daniel Macrury handed Davidson a four-month conditional sentence order with daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the entire time. As part of the conditional sentence, Davidson has been ordered to pay $600 in restitution to the victim, Valley Credit Union. The conditional sentence will be followed by two years of probation, including $3,600 in restitution to Valley Credit Union. The restitution is to be paid at a rate of $150 per month.
The court also granted a standalone restitution order for $20,492 to the benefit of Valley Credit Union.
Davidson committed the offence in New Minas on April 19, 2017. A charge of defrauding the Valley Credit Union of a sum of money was dismissed on May 14.
