KENTVILLE, NS - A Kentville man will serve intermittent custody for stealing in excess of $15,000 from the Kentville Masonic Association.
Daniel Gordon Parks, 60, changed his plea to guilty in October to a charge of stealing property of a value exceeding $5,000 from the Kentville Masonic Association. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
On Feb. 28, Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Parks to 90 days of intermittent custody, to be served from Saturdays at 9 a.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m. beginning March 3.
Parks will be on probation while not serving his intermittent sentence and for 18 months following. His probation order includes restitution of $3,600 paid at the rate of $200 per month beginning once the intermittent sentence is served. Parks was also fined $200 in victim surcharges.
The court also granted a standalone restitution order for $15,811.05 to the benefit of the Kentville Masonic Association.
Parks committed the offence in Kentville between July 12, 2015, and Dec. 6, 2016.
