YARMOUTH, N.S. — Three significant street paving projects announced in June will get underway in Yarmouth this week.  A section of Water Street from Richard’s Lane to Gardner Street will be milled on Sept. 9. Also, a section between Main Street between Moody's Lane and Commercial Street will be completed the same day.

Beginning Sept. 10, work will begin on Pleasant Street from Parade Street to Cliff Street. The afternoon will see milling begin on Forest Street between Main Street and Park Street.

Timeframes are approximate times only and some work may spill over into Sept. 11. The remainder of the week will include cleanup and further preparations for additional paving which will start next Monday. Travelers should plan alternate routes around these areas as there will be closures/delays.

These areas are receiving major overhauls. Each stretch will be milled the full width of the street and then recapped with more than 2 inches of asphalt. Bad sections are being excavated and patched prior to milling. Once completed, travelers will experience roads in these areas that will be nothing short of brand new.

Over the coming weeks, town crews will continue to work on pothole repairs on several streets. Aberdeen Paving will also undertake smaller ‘excavate and patch’ repairs where entire sections of pavement are cut out and replaced with new asphalt.  Some areas chosen for this work include:

Grantham Street
Vancouver Street
North Main Street
Brunswick Street
Chestnut Street
