Refused breathalyser

Gary St. Elmo McLellan, 66, of Cambridge, Hants County, has been fined for refusing to comply with a demand made to him by an evaluation officer to provide a sample of his breath for analysis.

McLellan pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 22. Judge Christopher Manning fined McLellan a total of $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.

McLellan committed the offence in Falmouth on Dec. 7, 2018. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

Used stolen credit card

Shawn Douglas Connell, 24, of Torbrook, has been handed a conditional sentence order for using a stolen credit card.

Connell changed his plea to guilty on Jan. 22. He was handed a 30-day conditional sentence order, consecutive to another sentence currently being served.

Connell committed the offence in Kingston on May 26, 2018. A charge of possessing stolen property of a value exceeding $5,000 was dismissed on Jan. 22.

Suspended sentence for various offences

Jeffrey Edward Douglas Keddy, 26, of Wilmot, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for assault, unlawfully being inside a house, failing to comply with his recognizance and failing to comply with his undertaking.

Keddy was originally charged with breaking and entering a house and committing an indictable offence therein but changed his plea to guilty to the lesser, included offence of unlawfully being inside a house on Dec. 5, 2018, and the matter was adjourned for sentencing.

He pleaded guilty to the recognizance and undertaking offences and changed his plea to guilty on the assault charge prior to his sentencing on Jan. 22.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Keddy a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation on the four charges.

Keddy committed the offences in Kentville on Feb. 27 and 28, 2018, and on Jan. 15, 2019; and in Waterville on June 4, 2018. Two more counts of assault were dismissed on Jan. 22.
