This is the latest court report for Kings and West Hants counties.

Stole pickup truck, refused demand

Monika Dentrement, 23, of Lantz, has been sentenced to jail time for stealing a pickup truck and has been fined for refusing to comply with a demand from a police officer to provide a sample of her breath for analysis.

Dentrement pleaded guilty to the charges on Aug. 26. Judge Christopher Manning sentenced Dentrement to 60 days in jail for stealing a pickup truck. Dentrement was granted credit at time-and-a-half for five days spent remanded in custody, or eight days. This leaves 52 days for Dentrement to serve.

Dentrement was fined $1,000 on the refusal charge and the court imposed a one-year driving prohibition against her.

Dentrement committed the offences in Lantz and Enfield on Aug. 22.

Custody for mischief

Dylan Justin Leopold, 25, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to jail time for committing mischief by willfully damaging an individual’s property to a value not exceeding $5,000.

Leopold was present in provincial court in custody on Aug. 26, when he pleaded guilty to the charge. Judge Christopher Manning sentenced Leopold to 60 days in jail, less seven days spent remanded in custody, leaving 53 days to serve.

Leopold committed the offence in Three Mile Plains on Aug. 17.

Breathalyser offence

David Hilson Ford, 71, of New Minas, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Ford pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 27. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Ford $2,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.

Ford committed the offence in New Minas on June 25. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Ford gave breathalyser readings of 200 and 200.

Breathalyser offence

Laurie Ann Sabean, 44, of New Minas, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Sabean pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 27. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Sabean $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against her.

Sabean committed the offence in New Minas on Jan. 31. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Sabean gave breathalyser readings of 100 and 100.

Drove while disqualified

Robin Lee Spidle, 28, of Hiltz Road, Kings County, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle while disqualified.

Spidle pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 26. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Spidle $1,000.

Spidle committed the offence in Lawrencetown on Aug. 15, 2017. A charge of failing to stop his vehicle as soon as was reasonable in the circumstances in order to evade police was dismissed on Aug. 26.

Failed to attend court

Scott Kenneally, 33, of Garland, has been fined for failing to attend court in accordance with a promise to appear in which he had been named.

Kenneally pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 27. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Kenneally $200.

Kenneally committed the offence in Kentville on June 4.
