Jail time for evading police
Christopher Arthur Andrews, 47, of Meadowvale, has been sentenced to jail time for failing to stop his vehicle as soon as was reasonable in the circumstances in order to evade police and failing to comply with probation.
Andrews changed his pleas to guilty to the charges on April 17. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced him to three months in custody, consecutive to any other sentence currently being served, for evading police and sentenced him to three months in custody, to be served concurrently to the other three-month sentence but consecutive to any other sentence, on the probation charge.
Andrews committed the offences in Greenwood on Aug. 3, 2018. A charge of dangerous driving was dismissed on April 17 with the Crown offering no evidence.
Conditional sentence for fraud
Jason Michael Croteau, 44, of Kentville, has been handed a conditional sentence order with daily curfew followed by probation for defrauding an individual of a sum of money not exceeding $5,000.
Croteau pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 12 and the matter was adjourned to April 17 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Croteau a 30-day conditional sentence order, including daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the entire time and an order to pay $200 in restitution to the victim, followed by 12 months of reporting probation.
Croteau committed the offences in Kentville between March 2 and 5, 2018. A charge of failing to comply with probation with regard to reporting was dismissed on April 17 with the Crown offering no evidence.
Conditional sentence order
Dylan Justin Leopold, 25, of Three Mile Plains, has been handed a conditional sentence order for failing to comply with his undertaking by failing to abstain from the consumption of alcohol; failing to comply with his recognizance by failing to remain in his residence at all times and committing mischief by willfully destroying an individual’s TV, rotisserie oven, picture window and bathroom mirror.
Leopold pleaded guilty to the charges on April 16. Judge Christopher Manning handed Leopold a 60-day conditional sentence order on each charge, to be served concurrently.
Leopold committed the offences in Windsor on Dec. 8, 2018, and on Jan. 12, 2019; and in Three Mile Plains on Dec. 23, 2018. Another count of failing to comply with his recognizance was withdrawn on April 16.
Breathalyser offence
Garnet Wayne Northup, 73, of Curry’s Corner, has been fined for having care or control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Northup pleaded guilty to the charge on April 16. Judge Christopher Manning fined Northup a total of $2,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.
Northup committed the offence in Windsor on Feb. 4. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Northup gave breathalyser readings of 200 and 200.
Uttered death threat
Evan John Raymond Burton, 24, of Hantsport, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for uttering a death threat.
Burton changed his plea to guilty on April 15. Judge Christopher Manning handed Burton a suspended sentence with one year of probation.
Burton committed the offence in Falmouth on Aug. 25, 2018. A charge of taking a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner with intent to drive it was dismissed on April 15.
Conditional discharge for assault
Kaitlyn Grace Lecouter, 19, of Wallbrook, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Lecouter was originally charged with using a weapon, an iPhone with a hard, protective case, in committing an assault but pleaded guilty to the lesser, included offence of assault. On April 15, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Lecouter a conditional discharge with nine months of reporting probation.
Lecouter committed the offence in New Minas on April 1, 2018. A charge of dangerous driving was dismissed on April 15 with the Crown offering no evidence.
Suspended sentence for assault
Theresa Cynthia Levy, 25, of Ardoise, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Levy pleaded guilty to the charge on April 16. Judge Christopher Manning handed Levy a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation.
Levy committed the offence in Ardoise on Jan. 27.
Probation offence
Shane Anthony Davidson, 47, of Kentville, has been fined for failing to comply with probation by failing to abstain from consuming alcohol.
Davidson changed his plea to guilty on April 15. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Davidson a total of $300.
Davidson committed the offence in Port Williams on Dec. 25, 2018.
