WINDSOR, N.S. — Although Tim Wells’ younger sister lives every day wondering where he is and if he’s OK, Vivian Wells has a renewed sense of hope.

Since her brother’s story appeared in the Valley Journal-Advertiser, she’s received countless messages and offers to help try to locate her missing brother.

She’s filled with gratitude for the outpouring of support.

“I feel really good that there are people out there that care and that want to help. I don’t feel so alone,” said Wells.

“I’m overwhelmed with the compassion from the community and the fact that they want to help.”

Now, efforts are underway to organize an unofficial search group to try to find Tim Wells.

“It started with one person that wanted to get together to talk about some options, some ideas, (and give) some emotional support with this,” said Wells Jan. 17.

“Somebody else wanted to talk about some other ideas. They wanted to go out and volunteer some time and maybe get some community members together with some drones. They had mentioned some hunting dogs and four-wheelers,” she continued.

And so, an informal group is being formed in hopes of finding Tim Wells, a Windsor man who has been missing since May 12, 2018. He was last seen riding a bicycle near Card Lake, some 34 kilometres outside of town. Despite initial search efforts at the time, he was never located — and neither was his bicycle or his hunter orange helmet or oversized headphones.

The first group meeting has been tentatively set for 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at Tommy Gun’s Speakeasy Lounge, but it may be rescheduled due to the pending winter storm. The storm date is Jan. 22, at the same location and time. They are also working on creating a Facebook group dedicated to keeping people informed of meeting dates and upcoming searches.

Vivian Wells said they’re hoping to organize searches using walkie-talkies or cellphones so that they can all stay connected in the woods, and to raise funds to help offset costs associated with keeping “an active search in place to look for Tim.”

Wells said meetings will be open to the general public, and hopes this renewed drive to locate her brother will be fruitful. He’s been missing for eight months.

“We’re looking for people with drones, four-wheelers, any suggestions — anything that you have to offer, any skills. If you have questions that you want to ask, please come.”

Vivian Wells said the RCMP will be in attendance as well.
