ANNAPOLIS VALLEY, N.S. – Residents of Kings, Hants and Annapolis counties could be starting off 2019 under a blanket of freshly fallen snow.
A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada warns that many communities in Nova Scotia could be impacted by significant snowfall predicted for New Year’s Day.
The statement says snow is expected to develop over Nova Scotia in the morning Jan. 1.
“Latest indications show that up to 15 cm are possible over parts of the province, especially over the Cape Breton Highlands where a snowfall warning has been issued,” the weather statements reads.
“Gusty southeasterly winds during the day Tuesday could also reduce visibility at times in blowing snow. Snow should taper to showers or drizzle Tuesday afternoon as temperatures climb above the freezing mark.”
