Business owner Judy N Green of Clementsport is the Green Party candidate in West Nova for the 2019 federal election.
"I’m delighted to have Judy N Green as our candidate in West Nova,” said Green Party Leader Elizabeth May. “Like so many Canadians, our candidates are driven by the urgency to do politics better. Addressing the climate crisis in a non-partisan manner and focusing on finding solutions to our common challenges is important to them. Judy will be an impressive candidate for the Green Party of Canada.”
Green works as a wellness coach and educator in Digby and is raising awareness of the many solutions to challenges faced everyday by residents in rural Nova Scotia communities, said a news release from the Green Party.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to work for you — to make the voices of the people of West Nova heard, and to put our future, and that of our children and grandchildren, at the forefront of our decisions,” Green said.
A veteran, wife, mother of one and a grandmother of three, Green earned her undergraduate degree at Acadia University and completed her masters of computer science at Carleton University in Ottawa.
Born in B.C., she has lived throughout Canada and has called Nova Scotia home for over 20 years.
Green works with local groups such as Fresh Food Box Digby and the Digby & Area Community Health Board to bring solutions regarding food insecurity and poverty to the people of rural Nova Scotia, the release said.
“She is committed to co-operation and collaboration with groups and organizations that work on the front lines addressing our most critical challenges,” the release said.
Green says is committed to sustainable management of the region’s natural resources.
“Our inland fishery, forestry and minerals are critical to the economic health of West Nova,” she said. “Our natural resources are our principal in the bank. As a small business owner, I know we must be fiscally responsible and should only be spending the interest while leaving the principal in place to provide for our future.”
Green is the third candidate nominated to run in West Nova in this year’s federal election. Jason Deveau, who is running for the Liberals, was nominated in May and, more recently, Chris d’Entremont was nominated to represent the Conservatives. The NDP had yet to announce their West Nova candidate.
