MIDDLETON – A 27-year-old Middleton man has been arrested and charged in connection with the Nov. 7 robbery at a Main Street convenience store.
Brennan Donald Simpson has been charged with Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Wearing a Disguise While Committing an Offence.
Police were called to the NEEDS convenience store at about 8:30 p.m. Nov. 7.
Annapolis District RCMP said a man entered the store and demanded the cash drawer. He had a screwdriver in his left hand, police said. The employee handed the money to the man, who then took it and ran from the store. There was another customer at the back of the store, but neither he nor the employee was hurt.
The RCMP conducted extensive patrols of the area and called in a police dog to help in the search. A still photo of the suspect was obtained from surveillance cameras at the store.
Staff-Sgt. Dan MacGillvray said police also searched a house in Middleton Nov. 8 as part of the investigation.
The day after the robbery police described the suspect as a white male in his late 30s, medium height, heavy build, with dark hair and a receding hairline. He was wearing a black 'puffy' jacket, sweat pants with stripes down the legs, and covered the lower part of his face with a white bandana.
Simpson has been remanded into custody and will return to court on Dec. 6.
