German intern Maria Weigl tours Nova Scotia: Lunenburg

Finally the weather agrees that it's summer and I take the chance to visit Lunenburg.

Before my guest family and I went to Lunenburg, we stop in Mahone Bay for a coffee. So pretty. The colourful little houses make the village so cozy. Unfortunately the village was full of cars and people, especially tourists. I know. I’m a tourist too. Everyone was outside enjoying the nice weather and the sunshine. I don’t care about the people. I just want to enjoy the weather and yes, being a tourist.

When we come to Lunenburg I am impressed by the colours. We park the car at the waterfront and look for something to eat. On a nice patio with the view of the Lunenburg Harbour, we enjoy our lunch. There are so many little shops with sweet things and tourist stuff. And the houses. Beautiful. I love this little town so much! After we walk through the streets we go back to the waterfront where I can see the postcard-famous red buildings. Before we drive home we go to the other side of the Lunenburg Harbour by the golf course. That is a wonderful view. But unfortunately they painted a few of the red buildings grey and black. I can’t understand why they did this. I can’t imagine that this should look better than before.

Still, it doesn't change my mind. Lunenburg: a pretty little town.
