A piece of advice from me to you – go see West Kings District High School’s Chicago musical.
Twenty-eight cast members gave their opening night performance April 3 to a packed house and showed off an incredible mix of vocal and acting chops.
Sophie MacMillan and Cassandra McCall star as the show’s lead characters Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, and share the stage with fellow lead Noah Bradbury as Billy Flynn.
The musical brings the audience back to jazz-age Chicago and its vocal and dance intensive numbers choreographed by Grade 12 student Netanya Barkhouse showcases each cast member.
A live band providing music and sound effects during the performance added another special element to an incredibly dynamic show.
The production was headed by West Kings teacher Hal Jessome and is the culmination of the students’ hard work and countless hours spent rehearsing and putting together scenes, stage direction and set design for the show.
It will run at the school through til April 6.
