‘Fun for everyone’: Scotian Gold’s Christmas in the Country a hit in Coldbrook

COLDBROOK, N.S. – Wagon rides are a family affair for the Hare crew.

“We’ve been coming here for the past three years because it’s a great way to get outside and enjoy Christmas,” said Aimee Hare, as she and her three sons readied for their wagon ride Dec. 1 at the annual Christmas in the Country event at Scotian Gold in Coldbrook.

Her mother, Josilyn, sat to one side with Fielding, five, as Aimee Hare sat on the next seat over with Gardener, three, and Ever, seven.

“Plus we also get to check out how long Santa’s beard is,” said Aimee Hare.

The event also featured cookies and crafts in the store’s upstairs area, where families including Jessica Joshua and her three children Walker, six, Allie, four and Maddie, two, designed Santas with paper plates, construction paper and marshmallows – all held together with a little glue.

Store manager Rob Bedard said the event “is always a lot of fun for everyone.”

“This is a day we put aside for the kids. We’ve been organizing it for over a decade, and it’s a good opportunity for families to go out together,” he said.
