DIGBY, N.S. - Employees at the Digby library are adding a musical flavour to their annual tree decorating activity.
On Dec. 5, the public is invited to the Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library in Digby for the Christmas Kitchen Party. Library clerk Heather Duncan said this year’s event includes music to attract more people.
“We had a kitchen party in the late summer in late August and had a pretty good turnout,” said Duncan. “In the past, we’ve had a Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and we’d have the kids come and decorate the tree and do Christmas carols and Santa would come.
“But the last few years, we noticed that numbers have kind of dwindled and we’re just changing it up and trying to do something a little different.”
The Christmas Kitchen Party begins at 6:15 p.m. and wraps up by 7:30 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to sing and bring guitars, spoons or any other type of musical instrument.
“People bring guitars and fiddles and ukuleles. I think last time (library senior clerk) Joanna (Jarvis) had brought her guitar in but typically people would bring their own or just join in singing.”
Duncan added that the whole family is welcome to attend.
“It’s open to anyone,” she said.
Hot chocolate and snacks will also be provided during the activity.
