PAL Aerospace will continue to provide aerial surveillance for Canada’s inland, coastal and offshore waters on behalf of the Government of Canada after having its contract extended by five years on Monday.
The company has been under contract to do so on behalf of the federal government since 1990. It is used to monitor domestic and foreign vessel activities and detect potential violations. It’s also used for pollution surveillance, environmental monitoring, and marine security for other federal departments and agencies.
The expanded contract, delivered on behalf of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), covers an initial five-year period and includes opportunities for PAL Aerospace to earn contract extensions up to ten years.
Under the new contract, PAL Aerospace will provide DFO with service through a combination of Beechcraft King Air B200 medium-range aircraft and Dash 8-100 series long-range aircraft — operating out of St. John’s, Halifax and Campbell River, B.C. — as well as all associated ground support and other related services.
