Cherisse Depuis opened her store on Commercial Street on Aug. 14 and is already attracting more and more customers as word gets around.
“I’ve had quite a few people in since I opened. People are excited and they love it,” said Depuis. “There’s no big number of stores in New
Watching and learning from her mother, who has owned and operated Penny’s Chic Boutique “just down the road” for four years now, was one of the inspirations for Depuis going into the children’s clothing consignment business.
“I have someone in that type of business who has taught me along the way,” she said.
Depuis said she “started hoarding baby clothes and toys and stuff at home two or three months ago,” to ensure a good stock when she opened. She carries clothing from newborn to youth extra large, the largest children’s size, as well as maternity clothing.
Since opening, Depuis has new consignment items coming in regularly. She accepts clothing for all seasons, as well as accessories and toys, and offers a 50/50 split on the sale price of items with the consignor.
“I welcome consignment items all the time, for all seasons and any amount,” said Depuis, noting that clothing bought at stores like hers can save consumers a lot of money, offering good value for their dollar.
Just Kidding Kids Consignment is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday,
Depuis is planning a grand opening for Sept. 9.
“I welcome people to come and check out the store,” said Depuis. It’s a great atmosphere and happy people.”
