Finalists announced for Shelburne County Community and Business Excellence Awards

The finalists for the Shelburne County Community and Business Excellence Awards have been chosen.

Five awards are being presented this year for Artisan Entrepreneur, Rising Star, Exporter of the Year and Small and Large Business of the Year. Finalists have been selected in each of the categories.

The finalists for the Artisan Entrepreneur Award in alphabetical order are:  Fashion Fix Beauty Services, Barrington Passage, Roscoe Ironworks, Shelburne, and Simply Country Décor, North East Point.

For the Rising Star Award, the finalists are (in alphabetical order): Capt. Kat’s Lobster Shack, Barrington Passage, Freedom Canoe & Kayak, Woods Harbour, and Lydgate Lock, Stock & Barrel General Store, Lockeport.

For the Exporter of the Year Award, the finalist is: I. Deveau Fisheries Ltd., North East Point.

The three finalists for the Small Business of the Year Award are (in alphabetical order): A & C Auto Repair Ltd, Shelburne, H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home & Crematorium Ltd., Shelburne and Spencer’s Garden Centre, Shelburne.

The finalists for Large Business of the Year are (in alphabetical order): Sea Star Seafoods Ltd., Clarks Harbour and Smith & Watt Ltd., Barrington.

The award winners will be announced at a gala banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the River Hills Golf & Country Club in Clyde River starting at 6 p.m. Guest speaker for the banquet is Heath Spencer, Executive Director at Shelburne Association Supporting Inclusion.

The Shelburne County Business and Community Development Awards is sponsored by Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) Shelburne, the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), Nova Scotia Works, Municipality of the District of Barrington, Municipality of the District of Shelburne, the Town of Shelburne and the Barrington and Shelburne Chambers of Commerce.
