WINDSOR, N.S. – The first Christmas and Craft Fair, hosted by the Avon Community Farmers’ Market, was full to bursting from start to finish.
Even before the Hants County War Memorial Community Centre doors opened, people were lining up to get in.
Karen Cooper, manager of the ACFM said she was thrilled with the community response.
“It has been amazing,” Cooper said. “It makes me cry, it just shows that people, even those we didn’t see in the summer, they know we’re here and are supporting it.”
“I think that’s a good omen for next year.”

Cooper said many of the vendors had reported high sales volume, some even telling her this was the best market they had been too yet during the busy holiday market season.
“Anyone can set up tables, but I think what we bring is we have the community feeling about it,” she added.
43 vendors lined the main auditorium, selling items ranging from local food, to gift ideas, clothing, and more.
Moon Fire Farm ran the café inside as live music was played and kids got photos taken with Santa.
Plans are already underway for next year’s market season, which is expected to kick off in May.
Pamela Purchase Cull, who enjoyed the summer market, came out to the Christmas one with her daughter to see what was on offer.
“We just love buying and shopping local, we enjoy it,” Purchase Cull said. “It’s a lot busier than I thought it would be, which is great.”
Purchase Cull said she was planning to pick up some items from Dig It Naturals, get some photos with Santa Claus and learn about what the 9-Lives Cat Rescue is all about.
“To get the community together like this and support each other by buying things for people around Christmas time, it’s just hugely important,” she said.
