In a hard-fought battle by both teams, the Maple Grove girls soccer team won the NSSAF Shelburne/Yarmouth District Junior Girls Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 21, with a double overtime win over Ecole Par-en-Bas.
The winning goal came off a penalty kick by Grace Hobbs, following a Par-en-Bas (PEB) handball in the crease during the second overtime.
Maple Grove had opened the scoring in the first half with a goal by Katherine Kini.
PEB tied the scored in the second half on a goal by Hailey d'Entremont.
The consolation game between Shelburne and Barrington also saw two overtimes but the outcome of that game had to be determined by a shoot out. The win went to the Shelburne Rebels.
