The Axemen finished in sixth place, nabbing the last playoff slot, with a 2-1 victory over the Panthers. Senior players Zach Shaffelburg and Erik Merchant scored for Acadia; Cole MacMillan scored for UPEI.

Acadia will play either St FX, Saint Mary’s or Dalhousie in the first quarter-final game at the AUS championship next weekend at Saint Mary’s.

Despite a 1-0 loss to the visiting Panthers Oct. 26 thanks to a UPEI goal by Tessa Fudge,  the Axewomen finished the season in third place with a 7-4-2 record and will face the host Mount Allison Mounties in the first of two quarter-final games Nov. 1.
