Acadia soccer teams host exhibition tournament

The Acadia men's and women's soccer teams are hosting a pre-season exhibition tournament this week in Wolfville, with the St. F.X. and Mount Allison men's and women's teams and the Regina Rams women's team providing the opposition.

Action got underway on Raymond Field Wednesday afternoon at 4, with the St.F.X. women blanking Regina 1-0. Maura Woodman had the game's only goal for St. F.X.

Regina then took on the Axewomen in a 6 p.m. start. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Fifth-year striker Laura Gray opened the scoring for Acadia, and Kaylin McDonald replied for Regina.

In the final game of the evening, the Axemen took on St. F.X. The game was delayed and ultimately suspended when the field lights on Raymond Field went out.

The tournament continues Aug. 28 and Aug. 29. On Thursday, the Regina and Mount A women play at 4 p.m., the Axewomen and St. F.X. at 6 and the Mount A and St. F.X. men at 8:15.

On Friday, the Regina and St. F.X. women play at 10 a.m. The Axewomen will play Mount A at 5 p.m. and the Axemen will take on Mount A at 7:15.

There is no admission to any of the tournament games. All are encouraged to take the opportunity to watch some talented players and cheer on the Acadia teams.
