Fun at 'the Gunn'

Among the early games Friday afternoon at the 26th annual Gunn Baldursson women's soccer tournament was this U-14 Tier 1 match between Valley United, in the red uniforms, and Suburban FC. This Valley header resulted in a goal. Tournament action continues all day Saturday and into Sunday, with most division finals set for Sunday afternoon.

26th annual Gunn Baldursson tourney underway, runs through Sunday

Hundreds of young - and some not so young - female soccer players are in Kings County this weekend for the 26th edition of the Gunn Baldursson Memorial women's soccer tournament.

In all, there are 121 teams taking part in the tournament, from as far away as Ottawa and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Divisions range from under-10 to senior women and ladies' seven-aside.

Action got underway at 4:30 p.m. Friday on a number of soccer fields between Wolfville and Kentville, and continues all day Saturday and into Sunday, with most medal games scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
