SHELBURNE COUNTY. N.S – The Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association has been presented with the Hockey Nova Scotia Development Association of the Year Award, and development coordinators, Andrew Holland and Kegin Watt have been named Development Coordinators of the Year.

The awards were presented at the Hockey Nova Scotia awards banquet in Halifax on May 5.

The Development Association of the Year award is presented “to the association who has best demonstrated a strong commitment to the overall development of its players, coaches, officials, administrators and parents,” states the awards’ description.

Hockey Nova Scotia says this season the Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association took a big leap forward when it came to development at the grassroots level.

“The association’s development team embarked on a number of development initiatives to help improve the

skill set of young players in the area,” says Hockey Nova Scotia. “One such program was a weekly skills session that the association hosted on Mondays.

The association’s development team was also proactive when it came to coach development. The coordinators frequently went on the ice with other coaches, making them comfortable in their roles

and assisting them in improving their practices.”

The Development Coordinator of the Year Award “is presented to the minor hockey association Development Coordinator who best supports the concept of development at the association level.”

“We have two winners this year in our Hockey Nova Scotia Development Coordinator of the Year

Category,” stated Hockey Nova Scotia in presenting the award to Andrew Holland and Kegin Watt.

“This pair has been extremely dedicated to development within the Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association,” stated the award presentation. “Through the selfless giving of their time, they have helped develop not only players through their skill

sessions, but also coaches and even officials. They are always eager to help other coaches in their association thrive.”
