The Cumberland County ski hill confirmed that, indeed, they will be open for business Saturday, Dec. 17.

Snowfall managed to land and stick this year at the end of November, unlike previous years which saw thaw-like temperatures come just as quick as the snowfall. This year, however, snowmaking at the ski hill commenced in early December and frigid temperatures followed making for excellent conditions for opening day.

“Last week we had those really cold temperatures and low humidity snowmakers love and we were able to make a tonne of snow, ” Ski Wentworth president and general manager Leslie Wilson. “We’re excited to opening on excellent conditions.”

To mark the occasion, Ski Wentworth is offering am opening-week discount on lift tickets and rentals.

The main trails will be open and with the added bonus of natural snow, Wilson says it will be a true Canadian experience when skiers start making their way to Wentworth.

“It really looks like winter out there,” Wilson said.
